Welcome!

I know the game of the year just dropped and it was Black Myth: Wukong.

But I haven’t played that.

I have seen things about it however. Mostly from YouTuber Whos Chaos, who I believe was in love with this game. I do love him, if you haven’t seen him, go grab some food, and check him out! He requests you eat while watching his videos!

And while I’m sure it’s a great game, I’ve heard good things about the combat, I’m not here to discuss that one today.

Nope.

We’re going to talk about my favorite game of the year.

Out of all the new games I’ve tried this year, one of them takes the prize. While it is not a new game by any stretch of the imagination, it is an incredibly fun one that I spent many, many hours playing.

Stardew Valley.

I play this game on my phone. It’s a great game to take with me everywhere I go and a fun way to pass the time. I freaking love this game.

It’s simple style is perfect for my phone because I don’t feel like I’m losing anything by not playing it on a bigger monitor. Unlike some other games.

It involves way more strategy and planning than I expected.

Because you need to remember how long it takes to grow items and whether or not you can grow them, and it’ll make sense for the time of year. And what you’ll do with yourself in the winter when you can’t grow anything.

And how much hay I’ll need to make it through the seasons I can’t grow hay, because I have to feed my animals the hay. I refuse to buy hay when I can grow it.

I’m stubborn like that.

Stardew Valley consumed me for days at a time. Just wanting to play one more day. One more thing to do before I forget.

There’s so much to explore and try. Money to make.

And nothing bothered me more than not being able to get the hang of the fishing mini game. It drove me mad for a few days until I figured it out. I do wonder if the game mechanics would be better on PC which is what the game was designed with in mind.

But I don’t care.

Stardew Valley is a perfect casual gaming experience that doesn’t have to be casual if you don’t want it to be. It can be whatever you want.

For me, I truly love the isolation of the game. I don’t have to form relationships if I don’t want to. Or I can.

Or I can farm in my little slice of the world and ignore everyone else.

It’s easy to see what this game is considered one of the greatest games of all time. It’s on my list for one of the most addictive games I’ve ever played.

It’s really fun to play while watching or listening to something else as well, because it’s just a really chill game. For example, I lost count of the number of episodes I watched of Critical Role while playing.

An awesome game I discovered in 2024, and I can’t wait to see what 2025 brings for gaming!

What was your favorite ‘new’ game you tried in 2024?

Spread the love and game on!
